I’m Taking That Away

I’m Taking That Away

You know how sometimes people give you or even your children something that they just aren’t capable of taking care of? Maybe it’s a pet or a toy. It might even be a clothing item (hello, if I have to dry clean it, I can’t take care of it). When I was a kid, if I couldn’t take care of my things, my mom and dad took them away from me until I was capable of taking care of them.

See these babies?
We love them. The two on the right are ours. See how hairy they are? One of the reasons we love Golden Retrievers is for their beautiful mane. HOWEVER, since I was put on bed rest I haven’t been able to take care of my house as well as I used to and so as a result, there is dog hair EVERYWHERE; on the floor, on the stove, on the table, on my clothes, in the air, in my mouth, in my food. I’ll just stop the list and reiterate that it’s EVERYWHERE!
So, since they can’t take care of their own hair, I took it away!
We had or Golden Retrievers shaved. Yes, I am a mean abusive puppy mommy. I know that Golden owners everywhere will be outraged and shocked at our actions. However, I do know that they’ll understand the hair everywhere dilemma. Maybe they’ll just be jealous.
A lot of people say that they’ll be more comfortable now that it’s summer. I agree that they’ll be more comfortable because it will be a lot easier to get out of the lake without all of that wet hair bogging them down. Maybe they look a little “necked” as my friend Isabel says but believe me, they’re happy.
Except for Jolly, the one on the right. But that’s because she also got fixed this month.
Hey! I’m having a baby! We all had to make sacrifices. At least theirs will grow back.
