With the induction of Baby LuLu scheduled, I know that my gardening days are numbered. Oh wait, I’m on bed rest (have I reminded you enough?) so my gardening days have been waaaay limited. If I’m lucky, I’ll take photographs next Saturday and it will be one of the last things I do BB (Before Birth) and then the following Saturday, hopefully I’ll be home and I can take photographs AB (After Birth – gag!). It is also my hope that my wonderful hubby will have time to get my seedlings into Garden Box #2 sometime this week. It’s almost time for all kinds of births!
This past week we had some rain, we’ve had wind and super cold temperatures. Currently, we are preparing for a frost by bringing in all of the seedlings and potted plants. The fear of frost is supposed to pass after Mother’s Day but I’m surprised that we even have a frost warning this late. However, the chilly, chilly, fall-like temps promise that it’s not a joke.
Garden Box #3, the only one that is planted has some sprouts. However, I’m not totally convinced that they aren’t weed sprouts. We’ll know soon enough. Have you ever accidently pulled out good plants, thinking they were weeds? I’m guiltier of letting weeds grow too long, worried that they might be good plants!
This year I want my apple tree to flourish! Last year it had a few fruits but the squirrels and birds got them before they were even golf ball sized. This year we already have a few fruits and I’m trying to figure out how to keep them safe.
When I see the difference that a week or two makes with my seedlings and their growth, it makes me ever more thankful that we’re going to be able to make it to 37 weeks with our pregnancy. This is MUCH better than the 28 and 34 weeks marks we were looking at before!
