On Friday, I knew it was the first day of summer break. How did I know? The kids were up playing in the middle of the street until well after MY bedtime and kids were out riding bikes in the street well before I left for work at the butt crack of dawn.

How is it that these kids who look energy starved at 7am when they are waiting on the corner (or in their parent's cars) for the school bus, can be running around the neighborhood like crazy, speed addicts at 6:30am? Ah, I remember, the insta-drug known as summer vacation. I wish I could do more than just remember; I wish I could EXPERIENCE summer again the way that I did when I was younger. Wait, I hear the ice cream man coming down the road! I’ll be back later!
