BIG Plans

BIG Plans

Tonight I have BIG plans, big plans. Yes, I am going to work on my taxes, memorize a monologue that I am “performing” Wednesday night and begin in my Spring Cleaning.
For Spring Cleaning this time, I am making a list as I go along, a list of what I’m cleaning and what else needs to be done. That way, next year I can be organized and begin cleaning slowly and just cross things off of the list. Plus, I’m really hoping to Spring AND Fall clean each year.
Also, you did read correctly, I’m still not done with our taxes. When we’re finally done organizing all of our stuff, we send them off to the accountant. It’s not that we’re terribly disorganized on this, we just haven’t worked on them as much as I might have led you to believe before. Jay worked on them for about an hour or less, a record from his HOURS last year and now I need to work on them for about an hour or two.
My monologue memorization is going terribly. It’s tomorrow and I’m only about half memorized. So, as you can see, I’m busy! See you tomorrow!

WHAT!?!?!

WHAT!?!?!

Someone found my blog through a search engine while looking for “soccer mom sex”. Hmmm. I’ve been key word and phrase searching my blog and I cannot figure out which entry they went to! I do mention soccer moms a few times; I mean really, I live in the ‘burbs! But Soccer Mom Sex! I rarely refer to sex in this blog let alone so overtly!

Menu Plan Monday

Menu Plan Monday

What a crazy busy week we had last week and it just continues on into this week! Sometimes I plan for a meal and then something comes up and we don’t eat it for one reason or another. This week I’m trying really hard to stick to the menu again. I’ll add links and pictures later!

Monday – Dinner @ a friend’s house.

Tuesday – Taco Night.Yes, almost every week we have taco’s in some form and pizza.

Wednesday – Whole Chicken in the Crock Pot with Asparagus and Corn Bread and Salad.

Thursday – Leftovers.

Friday – Camping food

Saturday – Chicken foil dinner or chicken on the grill (weather permitting) with veggie kabobs.

Sunday – Dinner @ church.

Triage Relationships

Triage Relationships

I don’t know how to say this in a gentle, kind way so here it is; our year has filled up awfully fast. We have about 1 or 2 weekends between now and the end of the year that aren’t totally full. Right now we are looking at about a million weddings this summer and fall, all of which I’m very excited about but the other night I’ve decided that we have to start triaging our life. Immediate family will come first, work will come second, friends and extended family will come third. When it comes to a battle within our triage system, we’ll have to assess our current relationship with those people taking into account our past relationship and guessing our future relationship.
Right now I am mostly struggling with what to do about two of the out of state weddings on my schedule. I almost have the desire to call those people up and say, “Are you ever going to come visit me at my home?” or “Will I ever really see you again after your wedding?” or “Would you rather I just send a gift?” I’m sure that many of the people I invited to our wedding went through the same kind of criteria that I’m looking at. Do you have any suggestions?

Woe is the Weekend

Woe is the Weekend

Today our schedule was very, very packed full of preparing for our big hike and various social obligations activities. We had such a great time visiting with my husband’s family that came in from out of town and then we paid a little visit to my friend Chandra and then hoped on over to our friends home for a poker game. Well, I didn’t play poker, I chatted with the girls.
Jay got 3rd place in poker (he might have done even better but I kept trying to get him to go all in on a blind hand so that we could just go home – we finally left at midnight) and went home without losing any “poker chips”. I told him that if he didn’t lose any of our “poker chips” I would reward him. Now I have to come up with a reward…

Is There Anything Like Family from Back Home?

Is There Anything Like Family from Back Home?

Today was super fun! My uncle called and said they were in the Midwest for the weekend for my cousin’s graduation from Boot Camp. Jay and I jumped in the car and drove two hours to meet up with them. It was so great to see some familiar faces and hear all about Boot Camp. God bless all of you who do it, I couldn’t!

We were going to meet up with them at a Bob Evan’s restaurant but thankfully when we all got there, it was closed because it was a brand new restaurant getting ready to open this month! Why in the world are there brand new restaurants opening up? I thought we were in the middle of an economic crisis? I thought people weren’t eating out as much?

Have you heard as many reports as I have that people are returning to the kitchen table for meals?

You Capture – Reflection

You Capture – Reflection

Instead of posting a photo of a “reflection” I’m posting a photo that caused me to “reflect”. When I was a child, my family would go on a vacation to Mexico two or three times a year. While we were there, we would endulge in fresh handmade flour tortillas. The other day I made my own. Yum.

Wednesday Weigh In

Wednesday Weigh In

So here is my weekly weigh in. I’m trying to have some self control and not celebrate my triumphs and mourn my setbacks as they come along, so I’m limiting myself to taking my official weight once a week. Today would be the day. Currently I am minus 8 pounds. It’s taking a lot longer than I had hoped. I guess I am safely losing weight, about one and a half to two pounds each week but I’d much rather lose it all at once.

I do see benefits to losing my 60+ pounds slowly: 1. I won’t put it back on right away. 2. I recognize the painful and loooong process, giving me more appreciation for how hard it is. Seriously though, I’m pretty sure I get it now, it takes forever. Lesson learned. Now, can it just drop off? I don’t have much of a chance of losing the 30 that I needed to lose by May 1st but I’ll more than halfway if I can just keep on this rate. My second goal was another 30 (for a total of 60) by the end of August. Surely I can dump those 30 pounds between May and August but I just need to get those other 15 or so I anticipate remaining.

Some people try to lose weight for bathing suit season; I’m trying for wedding season!
